Velenosi Roggio Del Filare 2019

Roggio del Filare is ruby red in color with slight garnet hues. In the nose an intense, complex bouquet with scents of ripe plums and cherries, leading to extraordinarily fascinating spicy and floral nuances. Great character and essence. Velvety tannins, strong texture, fruity and spicy. A warm persistent, full and harmonious mouthfeel. The characteristics of the aromas of Roggio del Filare are similar to those of Rosso Piceno Superiore but more powerful. What predominates, however, is the clove among the spices.

The grapes are hand-picked in mid-October in the early morning or late afternoon and placed in small crates that are refrigerated before arriving in the cellar.
Vinification takes place in small temperature-controlled stainless steel fermentation tanks. Maceration on the skins lasts about 28 days. Aging takes place in new French barriques for 18 months.

    Velenosi was founded in 1984 by two very young entrepreneurs, Angela and Ercole Velenosi. They combined traditional and modern techniques, leading to their own creative interpretation of winemaking!

    Through these insights, the company is constantly growing and adapting itself, creating unique wines that showcase the best of the Piceno region. The heart of the company is located in the historic town of Ascoli Piceno, located in the Marche region and at a distance of about 20 km from the Adriatic Sea and at an altitude of about 150 meters above sea level. The company's vineyard plots extend among the hills surrounding the beautiful valley of the Tronto River, which, thanks to its clayey and fertile soil, has always been suitable for growing grapes. In addition to the four vineyard plots located in Ascoli Piceno, Castorano, Monsampolo and Castel di Lama, there is a vineyard in the area of Ancarano and in the area of San Marcello (AN).
