Brigaldara Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso 2020

Superiore Ripasso has a bright ruby red color. In the nose, it has a romas of red plum, marzipan and exotic flowers, along with a mineral nuance. Juicy and and full in the mouth, with an elegant acidity that highlights the aromas of red fruits and spices. It finishes with a finish where the fruit remains for a long time.
Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso is created from the refermentation of Valpolicella wine on raisined grape must from Amarone. After the fermentation of Amarone, the wine is separated from the must, which still contains substances that can give off fragrances and aromas. Valpolicella wine is then kept in contact with the Amarone for approx. 5 days in contact with the Amarone must, starting a new fermentation that enriches the wine's structure and gives it more powerful notes that strongly characterize it. The result is a full-bodied wine with a very balanced flavor, accompanied by slight hints of ripe and dried fruits that evolve during aging, increasing complexity.
Aging: in stainless steel vats followed by a period in Slavonian oak barrels of 25hl.
  • About Brigaldara

A thousand years of history, 120 hectares of land - 47 of which are planted with vines - divided between three different areas of Verona: Valpolicella Classico, Valpantena and Eastern Valpolicella. The Cesari family has owned the villa and surrounding land, planted with vines, olive trees, orchards and grain, among other things, since 1928.

According to Brigaldara, vineyard management is central. Here, most of the work is done manually by a team of agronomists, who work shoulder to shoulder with oenologists and management. Every decision is made taking into account the importance of preserving biodiversity and respecting the vegetative-productive balance of each ecosystem. Other important elements are the ripening process of the grapes and the individual needs of each vineyard. Rapid interventions, precise operations and a drastic reduction of treatments in the vineyard guarantee a long-term sustainable vision for the vineyards. Incidentally, pesticides and synthetic products are banned in this vineyard in favor of responsible use of sulfur, copper and pelleted manure.

Stefano Cesari and his wife Maria Gilla are assisted by their sons: Lamberto and Antonio, ensuring the future of this excellent winery. Approved by Equilitas 3E sustainability label.
