Tenuta di Sesta Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Duelecci 2016

Tenuta di Sesta has spent years of careful work in the company's three best Brunello vineyards. Since the Duelecci vineyard was always the best of these, it was decided to dedicate this prestigious bottle to it. The vineyard has an excellent location on the gentle slope of a hill on the south side of Montalcino, where all of the estate's vineyards are located. The Duelecci Riserva, depending on the season, will be produced either in the east or in the west of this vineyard: in fact, the very stony soil on the east side of the vineyard lends itself to this wine in cooler years, while the west side is less skeletal and shows itself best in quality in the driest years. The Riserva di Brunello Duelicci est or Duelecci Ovest will define the character of the vintage right from the vineyard.
Thanks to that dark garnet hue, you will recognize this as Brunello as soon as this beautiful wine is poured from the bottle. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Duelecci Est shows that sultry and refined look you get with Sangiovese that has been expertly aged for six years. The bouquet is infused with dried cherries, wild berries, licorice, autumn leaves and light toasted spice. The wine offers excellent aromatic intensity that is direct and powerful but also elegant. About 3,000 bottles were made.
  • About Tenuta di Sesta

Since 1995, Tenuta di Sesta has been run by Giovanni Ciacci, who is supported with the commercial and agronomic management by his children Andrea and Francesca.

Tenuta di Sesta is located in the southern part of the municipality of Montalcino, between Sant'Angelo in Colle and Castelnuovo dell'Abate, near the famous Romanesque Abbey of Sant'Antimo. The vineyards are south facing on a slope, going downhill from 400 to 200 meters above sea level. These lands are considered one of the most suitable areas for the production of Brunello di Montalcino, given their specific location: in fact, the vineyards in the North are sheltered from the cold Tramontana wind from Poggio d'Arna and enjoy the warm Maremma currents thanks to the proximity of Monte Amiata that favors a mild microclimate. Thanks to the enchanting location in Sesta, it is possible to enjoy the fruits of the earth well before other areas.
