This Côtes du Rhône Villages St Andeol has abeautiful deep red garnet color. In the nose it iselegant, and well balanced with fruity and spicy aromas. On the palate it is full, with a nice roundness and flavors of dried red fruits, spices and a slight sweetness of currants in the finish, the silky tannins, gives an elegance worthy of the greatest vintages. The Saint-Andéol cuvée is aged in oak barrels. Powerful and silky, the wine evolves from its vanilla notes to more complex aromas of candied fruit, plums, spices and roasting with a mocha finish. Excellent promise!
The grapes are harvested by hand, then they go onto the last-generation sorting table for removal of all stalks and leaf debris. Then follows a long fermentation between 25 and 30 days at a temperature of 28 to 32 degrees. The wine matures for 9 to 15 months in oak barrels, 25% of which are new. With a storage potential of 10 to 12 years.
  • About Château Rochecolombe

Born in Oudenaarde, Belgium, Robert Herberigs was a well-known songwriter and visual artist. He bought Château Rochecolombe in 1925 as a second home. At that time, the estate consisted of one large orchard (apricots) and a few plots of vines.

Just after World War II, his eldest son Gilbert and his wife Geneviève van de Vyvere, took over the reins of the estate. They then converted the apricot fields into vineyards. For the first fifteen years, the harvest was sold to the Cooperative of Bourg Saint Andéol, and a trading house from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. In the 1960s, he took a then unusual step by building his own cellar for the production of Côtes- du-Rhône, while in that region the main production at the time was simple table wine.

Anno 2021, it is Roland, supported by wife Florence and their two children, who is working energetically for the future of this exemplary domain. All the vineyards are cultivated organically and they are also already expressly looking at the superlative, working in biodynamics. The wines all possess great concentration and are not filtered. The "ordinary" Côtes-du-Rhône was already good for a fat nine in the Volkskrant. It is a wine of unprecedented quality within this 'Appellation'.
