Nicolas Bouchard Deshenrys Rouge 2020

The color of this Deshenrys Rouge is ruby red with brilliant reflections. It has nice complexity in the nose with an emphasis on aromas of fresh dark fruit. It is full-bodied, generous and fresh. After destemming, the grapes undergo a relatively short alcoholic fermentation to retain the primary aromas. Aging follows in concrete vats and the wine is bottled at the end of winter.
  • About Nicolas Bouchard

The Bouchard family, owner of the leading Abbaye de Sylva Plana (Faugères), also owns a wine estate on the Côtes de Tongue, near the wine village of Alignan du Vent; Domaine Deshenrys. This wine region is located just north of the city of Béziers, overlooking the Basin de Thau.

The Côtes de Tongues are part of the Languedoc Roussillon. It makes red, rosé and white wines. The vines stand in soil with a high percentage of quartz, cobbles and calcareous clay. The climate there is Mediterranean with mild winters and warm summers. There is also the influence of sudden storms and the mistral. The Domaine Deshenrys is working hard on sustainable viticulture in imitation of what is done in Faugères. At Deshenrys, all white vineyards are organic and the reds are in conversion.
