Negretti Barolo 2018

The wine has a garnet red color with ruby reflections. Eand balanced complexity between red and black fruits, winter cherry and white flesh with spicy notes of roasted coffee. This is the fragrance of this Barolo, created from the meeting of the different Cru of the Negretti estate.Intriguing and fresh on the palate, elegant tannins and mineral flavor with great style. An Ideal companion with dishes of Piedmont cuisine, from starters of ravioli stuffed with meat and porcini mushrooms to main courses with roast beef.

The result of several vineyards in the municipality of La Morra, the Barolo DOCG by Negretti, is one of those wines where modernity is combined with tradition as also happens in the cellar, with fermentation at a controlled temperature and a first maturation in Allier barrique for 8 months. to then go into oak barrels of 20 hl for another 18 months. A strictly austere wine that does not need to wink to be noticed given the charm it exudes when you give it time in the glass.

Fermentation on the skins for 14/18 days in stainless steel vats with a controlled temperature between 24/30°C. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation. This is followed by aging in French oak (225L) for 6 months and 18 months in Austrian oak (2500L).
  • About Negretti

Brothers Ezio and Massimo Negretti own 13 hectares of vineyard in La Morra, UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014, Monforte d'Alba and Roddi. The wines are produced exclusively with their own grown pigeons. 90% of the time is dedicated to the vineyards and only 10% to making the wine in the cellar. Respect for the vineyard is their motto.

Extensive care throughout the year and a green harvest result in extremely low yields. A percentage of excess fruit is cut away between late June and late July. Harvest begins in early September with chardonnay, followed by barbera in late September and nebbiolo in early October. The perfect time to harvest is determined by ripeness, sugar and acidity levels, weather conditions and experience. The green harvest in summer will promote faster ripening of the fruit.

Ezio & Massimo Negretti have chosen the "green experience": a certification that guarantees respect for natural resources, biodiversity and this invaluable Langhe World Heritage Site. In this way, not an inch of land is sacrificed. In the cellar, chemistry is not the rule that leads: Negretti believes in physics while respecting the terroir.
