Cuvee Valentine has a pale yellow color with silver reflections. In the aroma, it has a nice intensity. Notes of white flowers; lily of the valley and white lilies, are vividly present. Fresh notes of anise and fennel follow with then mountains of vanilla and candied citrus aromas. On the palate, it has a nice freshness that adds relief and texture. Aromas of caramel and vanilla sticks are felt on the palate which is the result of oak aging. Nicely balanced with a very nice length.
Halfway between the Dijon/Tours line are several famous Loire regions known for their white wines from the sauvignon blanc grape. Sancerre, but certainly also Pouilly-Fumé, enjoy a huge reputation. In the immediate vicinity of both, however, are places where excellent wines are made at often more favorable prices. Reuilly and Menetou-Salon are two examples. The appellation of Menetou-Salon is known for its dry and edgy white wines and its fruity and silky reds
Reuilly is already one of those villages where you have to brake in time, otherwise you are already through. Menetou-Salon is, if possible, even smaller. Joseph & Marie de Maistre run their wine estate Le Prieuré de Saint-Céols in the hamlet of Saint-Céols. They have 13 hectares, two-thirds of which are planted with sauvignon-blanc and the remainder with pinot-noir grapes. They are currently Terra Vitis certified, but have been working organically for some years the certification is expected with the 2022 harvest.
