Jean Goulley Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu Bio 2022

This Chablis 1er Cru Mont de Milieu is and full-bodied and complex wine, delivering rich, ripe fruit. The aromas are of flowers and honey, enveloped in a creamy texture and a long, lingering finish. There is even a hint of brushwood to be detected.
Located in the commune of Fyé, the Premier Cru Mont de Milieu has an area of about 35 hectares. Mont de Milieu is undoubtedly one of the three best Premiers Crus of the Chablis vineyard. The hills on which this vineyard is located are a southern extension of the Chablis Grand Crus slopes. This south/southwest exposure guarantees maximum sunshine that gives the wine of this climate its subtle aromas.
The grapes are harvested at optimum ripeness and fermented at controlled temperatures with natural yeasts. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation.The wine then ages for 18 months in stainless steel vats at 14°C, the first nine of which are sur lie to give complexity and texture. This 1er Cru Mont de Milieu is made without the influence of oak to preserve the purity of the fruit to show the distinct characteristics of the terroir in this wine.
  • About Jean Goulley

    In 1986, son Phillipe joined his father Jean Goulley and they created the Domaine Jean Goullley et fils, located in the heart of Chablis. The size of the vineyards is about 6 hectares. The estate owns some Petit Chablis, Chablis & Chablis Premier Cru. Bequeathed in part by Armand Tremblay to her daughter Simone, wife of Jean.

    The estate also consists of a beautiful plot in the middle of the famous hill of Premier Cru Fourchaume. In the mid-1960s, Jean was given a large plot, 2.5 hectares, in the middle of the hill of Premier Cru Montmains. The family now also has an important vineyard on the Premier Cru Mont de Milieu and several parcels of Chablis in La Chapelle Vaupelteigne. All of their wines have achieved considerable renown. The wines are pure in style, have wonderful minerality and stand like a house. Truly a pleasure to drink. Phillipe Goulley believes in young fresh wines in which you can find the terroir and environment. Most of his work is in maintaining the vines. Effortlessly and year-round, he works in the vineyards for crushing grape quality.
