A CHIC STYLISH SELECTION OF REDS FROM ITALIA

About the wines in the box :

1. VESTIGO MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO VENEA
TERRE DI CHIETI ABRUZZEN ITALY
The Paolucci family has been growing grapes for generations
on hills in southern Abruzzo, the Terre di Chieti. At Venea they apply the special raisin drying technique, known from the Valpolicella - Veneto area, in special hygienic drying cabinets. The processing of the partially dried Montepulciano grapes creates a very concentrated wine without stiff tannins. Looks a bit like a Ripasso. Deep color, lots of fragrance and an intense flavor experience. Ripe blackberries, berries, laurel, Mediterranean herbs. Despite power and depth very energetic, refined and plenty of drinking pleasure. Pouring temperature: 16-18 °C
Serve with: Delicious with game, grilled red meat, soft creamy cheese, spicy pasta dishes.

2. TORRAZZO, PRATELLO DOC VALTÈNESI, ITALY
From two organically grown local grape varieties (Groppello & Marzemino), winemaker Vincenzo Bertola composes this supple tasting, intensely fruity especially soft red wine.

Spicy and complex but also accessible, light and fresh, juicy, fruity and cheerful with hints of ripe cherries, raspberry, plums and crabapple. Serving temperature 16-18 °C

Serve with: Fresh and approachable but with enough 'body' to handle meat, (feather) game or soft creamy and mature cheeses. Served lightly chilled the best combination with pasta with tomatoes etc (sweet acid fresh from tomato). But ..also saves it with fish dishes.

3. CIRCUS, CANTINA LVNAE, LIGURIA

The name LVNAE comes from the place Luni, an ancient Etruscan/Greek port dedicated to the Greek
god Selene. The estate with stony rich soil,
is located on the hills of the Apennines, 11 km from the Mediterranean Sea, in Liguria and is known for its use of local grape varieties. Assembly of ca
15-year-old Albarossa, Alicante Bouchet and Massereta. A full-bodied, powerful wine with an exciting but present tannic structure. All on stainless steel. Intense ruby color, aroma with wild flowers and ripe red fruit. Mouth-fillingly elegant and harmonious with long finish and velvety tannins.
Pouring temperature: 18 °C
Serve with: Fine meats, hearty starters, stew with potatoes, pasta with meat sauce, feather game, with rabbit, spicy oriental dishes, chicken, red or white meat, at least with dishes with a bite.

4. PRIMITIVO DI MANDURIA VILLA MOTTURA PUGLIA

Family-run Mottura is located in the heel of the boot, in southern Italy around the beautiful town of Lecce. Since 2015 they have recruited as consultant oenologist our favorite winemaker Emiliano Rossi (Ca dei Frati and Pratello). The result is already noticeable: more generous juice, more tension and greater digestibility. Not overripe, heavy and alcoholic, but rather very pleasant to drink. A velvety wine Pouring temperature: 16-18 °C.

Serve with: lightly smoked beet, mushrooms, dishes with a little sweetness think game, roasted red meats like beef and game, lamb shoulder, stews and mature cheeses.

5. POGGIO D'ARNA IGT ROSSO TOSCANA

Tenuta di Sesta is located in the southern part of the municipality of Montalcino, where the Poggio d Arna hill protects the vineyards from the cold northern winds. This original blend of 40% Sangiovese Grosso, 30% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot from calcareous soil is aged for a year in French Allier barriques and in 15 hl Slavonian oak barrels.
Deep ruby red in color, with intense nose in which red fruits and spices. Harmonious, polished, soft and enveloping taste, nicely structured with well-dosed freshness and velvety tannins.
Pouring temperature: 16-18 °C
Serve with: A red wine for any meal, excellent with red meats but also with lamb, veal or pork, vegetable dishes and firm white fish fried on the bone

6. ROSSO DI MONTALCINO DOC TENUTA DI SESTA
Full classic and elegant, the Rosso di Montalcino, made from 100% Sangiovese Grosso, is considered the younger brother of Brunello. A
year aged in 20 hl Slavonian oak barrels, the wine combines the stately structure of a Brunello with the freshness and vibrancy of a
young wine. Intense ruby red in color, exuberant nose with red fruit, blackcurrant, black pepper, licorice and tobacco. Full, intense and harmonious from
taste, lingering aromas of red fruit combined with velvety, round tannins. Worth a celebration. Pouring temperature: 16-18 °C advice: drink in its youth. Serve with: Beef tenderloin Rossini and other beef dishes, braised game or lamb shoulder, dishes with truffle, stuffed ravioli or mushroom pasta.
