Gustavshof Lemberger Bio 2016

This Lemberger has intensely spicy aromas of cherries, berries and pepper, combined with the mature nuances of wood. The palate is highly structured, dry, characterful with a complex tannic structure and an intensely long finish. Although it still has a lot of aging potential, the 2016 already looks quite intense. This Lemberger keeps very well. According to the winery, peak ripeness is 8 to 10 years or even longer after harvest.
  • About the vineyard

Gustavshof is located in the heart of Rheinhessen, south of Mainz. The vineyard (18ha) has been managed by the Roll family for 4 generations. They have been working according to organic viticulture guidelines since 2004, were Ecovin certified in 2007 and recently (2012) biodynamic (Demeter certified). All wines are made vegan. The high quality of their products, the preservation and promotion of a healthy terroir and balanced planting of vines are the foundation of the company. Pinot gris and riesling are their hobby grapes, the blue grape has their passion and rare local grape varieties are their vocation. The winery has always worked to produce good to very good quality wines. Very important is the natural characterization of the wine. This means that the nature of the terroir and the taste of the grapes is reflected in the wine. All the wines here are very typical of the grape variety. Their 'do it yourself' winemaking package was voted 'Demeter product of the year' in 2014 and they received several medals at Bio Millesime, including the coveted gold medal with 'mention spéciale' for the red "Jomax".
