Giol Perla Frizzante Bio

The ancient Verduzzo grape variety is without doubt one of the most typical and widespread varieties in Veneto since Roman times. It is perfectly adapted to the local alluvial soil that the Piave River has shaped and made fertile over the centuries. Perla is a sparkling wine that is excellent as an aperitif. It is a good all-round wine, although it is best enjoyed with light dishes, especially soft cheeses and shellfish, or with marinated scampi or fish. The wine is pale straw yellow in color, it has a subtle, fine mousse. The bouquet reveals elegant aromas of white flowers and subtle hints of fruit, with a slight note of dried hay; slim and dry on the palate, it has a good finish and is balanced.

  • About GIOL

Located in the heart of San Polo di Piave, 35 km from Venice (Veneto), Azienda Agricola Giol is the oldest Prosecco house from Italy (1427). The trademark of this winery is the currently uninhabited Giol Castle. Here in the cellars, under the watchful eye of the young Venetian winemaker Vittorio Carraro, the wines are aged, behind meters thick walls and therefore at a constant temperature.

The recent history of the castle and wine cellars goes back to the events surrounding 2 families: first the Papadopoli family and later the Giol family. The Count Papadopoli, a Venetian banker, used the castle as his summer residence, leaving Venice during those months to oversee the harvest on his endless estate. In 1923, the family sold the huge estate with more than 60 farms belonging to the estate and the castle to Commander Giovanni Giol. He had just returned from South America after a very successful period of emigration. He moved into the castle and continued the work of the count. Preserving the structure and the old wine cellars, he built a second barrel room, still famous for its size and charm. After the contributions of the next three generations, the entire complex is in excellent condition and what remains is a winery producing great wines. All made from organic grapes, vegan, some without added sulfite and with relatively low alcohol percentages.
