Domaine de Rousset les Coquelicots Rosé Bio 2022

This fruity summer rosé is irresistible. It has a very light pink color. It has great freshness and minerality with aromas of berries, rose petals, white flowers and citrus. The small addition of muscat grapes give this wine that little bit extra which makes it excellent to enjoy as an aperitif on summer days but this wine is also gastronomically well employable.

  • About Château Rousset

In the Manosque region, between Aix and Sisteron, the AOP Pierrevert stretches along the hills bordering the Durance. Small, heterogeneous in exposition and terroirs, and often overlooked in books and maps, this appellation nevertheless remains a great reserve for oenological discovery for lovers of wines with freshness.

Château Rousset has been owned by the Emery family since the early 19th century, and since 1985 Hubert and Roseline Emery, joined by Thomas and his wife Camille in 2003, have taken over the estate. A true family business that, day after day, has the minimalist goal of producing only the finest wines in the world.

Château Rousset's vineyards consist of 38 hectares of vines and 8 hectares of olive trees divided into numerous parcels (la Garance, Saint Pierre, les Sangliers, le Grand Jas, La Plénette, les Alouettes and les Aramonts).

While almost the entire appellation is on the southern slopes of the right bank of the Durance, Château Rousset stands out and looks to its comrades on the other side of the bank. Here, the vines prefer to enjoy the pudding stones of the Valensole plateau and the view of Mount Lure. Thus, the vine ripens its fruit with its head to the north, sheltered from the scorching sun and the lungful Mistral wind. The result is more staggered ripeness and a healthy harvest that allows the best to be extracted from the grapes.

A former silkworm farm, then sheep pen, was transformed into a cellar in the 1950s. It was modernized and designed starting in 1985. Half buried and spread over two floors, the structure allows vinification using natural gravity. In terms of aging, the vat space is divided into hard concrete, enameled steel, stainless steel and wood. Each material has its advantages, depending on the wine and winemaking.
