D'Oliveiras Madeira Sercial 1977

This is a very old Madeira wine, classified as "FRASQUEIRA." This wine was part of the wine collection of the family that owns this winery. It was made from a noble grape variety in 1977 in which the quality of the grapes was high and the harvest excellent, with grapes from only the best vines on the island of Madeira. Prior to bottling, it benefited from a long aging period in old oak barrels. This allowed it to develop into a distinctive Madeira wine from the Sercial grape, with its exceptional character, structure, aroma and full flavor.
It is important to let the wine breathe for a while after it is opened, to develop the fullness of its aromas. If only part of the wine is consumed, the rest can be kept in the bottle for years. Remember to use the extra cork you get with the wine so that it is completely sealed. We recommend storing the bottle upright, away from extreme temperatures. Serve at a temperature of about 18ºC. If the wine is kept in the bottle for many years, a natural sediment may form. This is a sign of life and is part of the natural qualities of this genuine MADEIRA. We recommend serving it well so that it does not become cloudy. If desired, the wine can be decanted.
  • About D'Oliveiras

The founders of D'Oliveiras were visionaries who recognized the true value of Madeira wine: its ability to age over time to improve its flavor and intensity. Therefore, they began to store as much Madeira wine as possible and slowly age it in the barrels so that future generations could enjoy it.

D'Oliveiras is the only Madeira wine company that owns bottles and barrels of Madeira wine dating back to 1850 and still available for purchase.

D'Oliveiras currently owns 5 fully restored century-old buildings in the center of Funchal, storing more than 1 million liters of Madeira wine. All of these buildings have their unique stories and some have even housed other old Madeira wineries that were acquired by D'Oliveiras. All these buildings are open for tours and let you see, smell, feel and taste Madeira wine and its whole story.

Other vintages available upon request. Oldest vintage is 1850.
