The Cuvée Pervenche consists of a blend of Merlot 50%, Cabernet Franc 45% and Cabernet Sauvignon 5%. On the palate, the wine gives great freshness of fruit, peppers and juicy tannins.
Clos Puy Arnaud is in the appellation Côtes-de-Castillon, located on a plateau (100m high) with a clay and calcareous soil (calcaire à astéries) in the valley of the Dordogne River. This appellation is an extension of the plateaus of Saint-Emilion, the birthplace of the great Grand Cru Classés. In 2000, the estate was acquired by Thierry Valette former co-owner of Château Pavie (1er Cru Classé in Saint-Emilion) and proponent of organic and biodynamic viticulture. From 2000 to 2004, top oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt assists Thierry Valette. In 2004, Anne Calderoni joins the team as a consultant. Clos Puy Arnaud is one of the very best wines from the Côtes de Castillon, one of the rare organic wines in the Bordeaux region. The Asteries type limestone predominates at Puy Arnaud, bringing a lot of finesse, freshness and minerality to the grapes and giving a great bouquet. Thierry Valette is also experimenting with winemaking techniques not allowed by the AOC. The wine resulting from this (cuvée Bistrot 2014) is also in a burgundy bottle, to underline the wine's idiosyncratic character.
