Brigaldara Valpolicella Superiore 'Case Vecie' 2020

Valpolicella Superiore 'Case Vecie' has a ruby red color. On the nose, it has aromas of cherries, balsamic and notes of vanilla and spices. In the mouth it has a soft taste and a good structure. It is a full-bodied wine with fresh acidity, ripe fruit and modest tannins. A very drinkable wine that can be enjoyed every day.

After selecting the Amarone grapes - for which each year the protection authorities determine the quantity that can undergo the drying process - the rest of the grapes are harvested. From the vinification of these fresh grapes, Brigaldara extracts Valpolicella. After about a year of aging in 25 hL Slavonian oak barrels, the Valpolicella wine from the Case Vecie vineyard is given the Superiore designation because of its slightly higher alcohol content, lower acidity and more velvety and harmonious flavor.
Valpolicella Superiore 'Case Vecie' is made from fresh grapes, mainly corvina and corvinone. It takes its name from the 10-hectare vineyard of the same name in Grezzana - Valpantena. It is a unique vineyard, with a perfect southeast exposure. Here the grapes are exposed to significant temperature differences between day and night, giving the wine a special spiciness. Despite Valpolicella Superiore trying to remain anchored in the origins of drinkable wine, it actually combines complexity and structure through slow aging.
  • About Brigaldara

A thousand years of history, 120 acres of land - 47 of which are planted with vines - spread across three different areas of Verona: Valpolicella Classico, Valpantena and Eastern Valpolicella. The Cesari family has owned the villa and surrounding land, planted with vines, olive trees, orchards and grain, among other things, since 1928.

According to Brigaldara, vineyard management is central. Here, most of the work is done manually by a team of agronomists, who work shoulder to shoulder with oenologists and management. Every decision is made taking into account the importance of preserving biodiversity and respecting the vegetative-productive balance of each ecosystem. Other important elements are the ripening process of the grapes and the individual needs of each vineyard. Rapid interventions, precise operations and a drastic reduction of treatments in the vineyard guarantee a long-term sustainable vision for the vineyards. Incidentally, pesticides and synthetic products are banned in this vineyard in favor of responsible use of sulfur, copper and pelleted manure.

Stefano Cesari and his wife Maria Gilla are assisted by their sons: Lamberto and Antonio, ensuring the future of this excellent winery. Approved by Equilitas 3E sustainability label.
