Brigaldara Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 'Case Vecie' 2017

Amarone 'Case Vecie' has a deep ruby red color. Very ripe, almost toasty aromas in the nose of dried cranberry, kirsch, brown spices, figs soaked in sugar syrup and botanical herbs. Then fresher and softer, with clean and precise flavors of cinnamon, pepper, tobacco and dried flowers. Finishes long, soft and spicy with young, tough but polished tannins. 'Case Vecie' impresses with its seamless personality and exceptional overall balance.

Amarone 'Case Vecie' takes its name from the 10-hectare vineyard of the same name in Grezzana - Valpantena. It is a unique vineyard, 450 meters above sea level, with a perfect south/east exposition. These special climatic conditions allow the grapes to undergo slow and constant ripening even during the most difficult years. The late harvest period allows the grapes to rest during a colder period of the year, allowing the grape bunches to undergo a slower and longer drying process. During this phase, the grapes will develop the
aromas that will later give the wine its characteristics. Amarone 'Case Vecie' is designed to enhance the natural characteristics of a vineyard in a cold climate, which remain unchanged thanks to the low-temperature drying process so that these characteristics are preserved. The wine ages 2 years in French barriques and 2 years in 25hl Slavonian oak barrels.
  • About Brigaldara

A thousand years of history, 120 hectares of land - 47 of which are planted with vines - divided into three different areas of Verona: Valpolicella Classico, Valpantena and Eastern Valpolicella. The Cesari family has owned the villa and surrounding land, planted with vines, olive trees, orchards and grain, among other things, since 1928.

According to Brigaldara, vineyard management is central. Here, most of the work is done manually by a team of agronomists, who work shoulder to shoulder with oenologists and management. Every decision is made taking into account the importance of preserving biodiversity and respecting the vegetative-productive balance of each ecosystem. Other important elements are the ripening process of the grapes and the individual needs of each vineyard. Rapid interventions, precise operations and a drastic reduction of treatments in the vineyard guarantee a long-term sustainable vision for the vineyards. Incidentally, pesticides and synthetic products are banned in this vineyard in favor of responsible use of sulfur, copper and pelleted manure.

Stefano Cesari and his wife Maria Gilla are assisted by their sons: Lamberto and Antonio, ensuring the future of this excellent winery. Approved by Equilitas 3E sustainability label.

(Case Vecie is a natural and rural microcosm located on the high hills of the municipality of Grezzana, called "torricelle" by the people of Verona because of the four Austrian towers built on the ridge of the mountains to defend the city. Locals also call this area "vegetable gardens of Verona" because they were once dedicated to the production of agriculture for the needs of the city. See photo below).
