Beyra Tinto Reserva 2020

Beyra Tinto Reserva has a fruity aroma with very elegant and discreet minerality. Nicely balanced with notes of aging in barrel. On the nose it has notes of berries, spices and subtle notes of vanilla and toast. On the palate, the wine is fruity and persistent with fresh and elegant finish.
The grapes come from vineyards planted in the plateau area of the Beira Interior wine region, at an average altitude of 700 meters, growing in slate soils. The vineyards are all of indigenous grape varieties perfectly adapted to the environmental and climatic characteristics created by the altitude, carefully chosen one by one depending on the vintage. The grapes are picked by hand, upon arrival at the winery the grapes are completely destemmed, followed by pressing and cooling. Fermentation takes place at a temperature between 22 - 26ºC for 7 days with smooth maceration. The wine matures for 8 months in 1/3 French and 2/3 American new oak barrels.
  • About Beyra Vinhos De Altitude

Surrounded by the mountains Estrela, Marofa and Malcata, the vineyards of Beira Interior reach more than 750 meters above sea level. The main advantage of viticulture at altitude is the cooler climate. This preserves acidity within the grape thanks to the temperature difference between day and night. The cool nights lead to a slower and more even ripening of the grape, enhancing the concentration of aromas and flavors. During the day, the greater radiation of the sun helps photosynthesis, giving more color and a controlled and balanced alcohol content.

Beyra strives for innovation in viticulture in a region dominated by ancient vineyards, perfectly adapted to the rigors of altitude. It is one of the hidden treasures of Portugal's great vineyard heritage. Winemaker Rui Roboredo Madeira grew up in the heart of the Douro Superior. He has now been making wine in this region for more than 20 years. During many harvests, he has learned that by taking good care of the vineyards, a natural balance can be maintained. He gets the best from native varietals such as touriga nacional, touriga franca, tinta roriz and jaen. Made in its own winery, these wines can express the true character of the land. Especially notable is the excellent value for money.
