Brigaldara Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva 2013

Amarone Classico Riserva has a deep ruby red color. On the nose, it has intense aromas of dark cherries and plums combined with cocoa and coffee. In the mouth it is rich and fruity sweet on entry, then more floral and finishes long with a refined but very dense, warm mouthfeel.

Aging: 3 years in barriques and 2 years in 25hl Slavonian oak barrels.

  • About the vineyard

The name Brigaldara first appeared in a deed of 1260. The Cesari family bought the house and land in 1929, the cultivation of vines and olive trees alternated with orchards and cereals. From 1979 they focused entirely on winemaking, first selling grapes and from 1991 making their own wine.We asked Stefano why the Ripasso is the only one with a different label, because it is really great! He replied: every Ripasso is a missed opportunity for selling an Amarone! So another label. With the arrival of vintage 2014, he abandoned this and bowed his head for unity, the Ripasso thus got 't the same label as the whole series. Meanwhile, his Amarone regularly gets 3 glasses in the Gambero Rosso, again in 2015! The Riserva has only been made for a couple of years, if you've tasted this one from 2007 you can't go back, such extreme length and depth in a wine you rarely see. After the 2007 and the 2009 there will be no Riserva for the time being, maybe 2012 but it may not see the light of day for another 2 years.
