Pratello Mille1 Bio 2020

Mille1 means 1001. Italy is 1001 miles long from one end to the other. Since ancient Rome, this unique wine country has been at the center of many things, but especially its culture. That culture is also a wine culture. It is 1,001 miles of wine regions, microclimates and traditions that have shaped and helped Italy's fame over the centuries. Tasting Mille1 wine is a luxury journey through Italy, to be enjoyed and tasted not once in a lifetime but every day.
Mille1 is like driving with the roof open on a summer day: the color is of vibrant garnet, shimmering with opacity and enveloping the nose with scents of wildflowers, ripe berries, blackberries and warm spices. At first glance, the wine is lively and full-bodied, inviting you to come back for another sip as the savory undertones transition into notes of red berries. A freshness like a sea breeze moves through the finish, leaving a silky feel.
The grapes come from the hills near Lake Garda, an amphitheater of vineyards on moraine soil that were formed by the expansion and retreat of glaciers thousands of years ago during the last ice age. This area is very sunny and, due to its proximity to Lake Garda, very breezy and cool. This guarantees healthy vines and optimal ripening without mildew or disease. Even after the harvest when some of the grapes are dried for the appassimento process, a traditional winemaking technique of this region. After harvest, the grapes undergo fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks, followed by six months of aging in 500-liter French oak barrels.
  • About Pratello

Founded in 1860, Pratello is located on the southwest side of Lake Garda toward Brescia. Important to the Azienda is the handling of the environment, hence they have been making wines from organically grown grapes since 2004. Total vineyards and olive trees are grown organically. Having followed an organic path, Pratello has created a unique working protocol. Consciously interacting with nature not only by using natural products for the soil and in the cellar but also by respecting the biodiversity of the ecosystem. This is called the 'Pratello Idea'.

In addition to diversity in the organically grown vineyard and BIO architecture, 'Pratello Idea' stands for: reducing the use of copper in the vineyard, the synergy between animals and plants and lowering the amounts of sulfite used.As owner Vicenzo Bertola himself points out: it was an inescapable choice suggested by our philosophy of life. Pratello produces a beautiful range of wines, focused on grapes typical of the area: rebo, manzoni, gropello and turbiana. Very convincing wines with expression and terroir. Winemaker Emiliano Rossi (Cá dei Frati) is highly regarded and experiments with new winemaking techniques combined with the use of natural yeasts.
