Description
Vintage 2017: big challenges, but still beautiful wines: Quel terroir!
After a mild winter, the bud eruption occurred relatively early, around mid-March. Unfortunately, temperatures dropped shortly afterwards and gave way to frost on the vineyards of Bordeaux. Known for its great terroir, Monbrison was slightly affected on the night of April 27. The vine's growth cycle had slowed slightly, but flowering was very good between May 18 and 29.
The vine has continued to grow. Indeed, in some areas affected by frost, vintners had to give more of their time to do accurate work in the vineyard. Veraison started in the month of July and ended around August 7th.
This 2017 vintage had relatively little rain. Chateau Monbrison was lucky enough to get beautifully ripe Merlot, which was pressed on September 18th and 19th. The Cabernet Sauvignon also came in beautiful quality in the week of September 26. in 2017, the quality of the wines remains at the height of a great Margaux wine, despite a minimal loss of yield!
